Why a Structured Approach Saves Time

Slow internet is frustrating, but it rarely has a single obvious cause. The problem could sit in your device's software, your router's configuration, a damaged cable behind a wall, or a fault on your provider's network. Jumping straight to a call with your ISP before ruling out home-side issues wastes time for everyone — and may not fix anything.

Before you start, note your subscribed plan speed — it's printed on your bill or visible in your provider's account portal. That number is your benchmark throughout the process.

Do Not Skip the Wired Baseline Test

Testing speed over Wi-Fi alone can produce misleadingly low results caused by signal interference or distance — not your ISP's service. Always establish a wired result first. If you do not have an Ethernet port on your device, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter can be used as an alternative.

Record Every Result Before Calling Your ISP

Without this, the first part of any support call is spent replicating the same steps you have already done. Keep your notes accessible when you call or open a ticket.
